This is my first blog post! I’ve been busy working on my website and have completely neglected this place. This is a critical part of my website though as I want to write about my projects and the website format doesn’t really meet my needs.

I’ve been working on a few projects which have been keeping me pretty busy. I’ve created a github repo for a “my collections” project. This is really just a way for me to practice my algorithms and data structures that I learned a while back. I don’t really want to forget them so I figure making some simplified versions of them is a great way to refresh myself with how they work. I’ll be writing at least one blog post about each topic so hopefully they will be useful.

I’ve got a tower defense game that I worked on a while back that I hope to dredge up and get a little more polished. It was really just an exercise to learn about multithreading, graphics, etc. but I think it would be fun to revisit it(and remind myself why I need to be more vigilant with commenting my code).

I’m also working on an app for my wife which I am looking forward to discussing, but for now it is in its own private repo.

On the work front I was planning to pitch building an education/training portal at work but an opportunity presented itself to do so a bit early as a part of a group project. It went well and I am very hopeful that I will get to build it. It would be my first “engineering job”. If they go forward with the project I will be working with HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery, Bootstrap, and learning Scala and play!

Finally, I’m also going to add some notes on my crafts and travels, so a how-to for creating Gandalf’s staff and a how-to for creating the Elder wand are coming soon, as well as some posts about lighthouses!
